DM Tracker now connects directly to Instagram through Meta's official integration. Once you connect your account, your new DMs land in your DM Tracker inbox, you can reply from your dashboard, and most of your follow-ups start tracking themselves.
What changed
Direct Instagram connection. Connect your Instagram account to DM Tracker and your new messages sync automatically. No middleman tool needed.
A real inbox. Reply to your Instagram DMs right from your DM Tracker dashboard.
Follow-ups that track themselves. You no longer mark every follow-up as done by hand. DM Tracker tracks most of them for you, and only asks you to confirm the ones it cannot see.
Step 1: Connect your Instagram account
You can connect during onboarding when you first sign up. If you already use DM Tracker and want to switch over:
Go to the Inbox and click Connect my account.
Click Connect in the top-right corner. This takes you to Instagram.
Log in to the Instagram account you want to connect, then click Allow.
You are sent straight back to DM Tracker, now with Instagram connected.
From this point on, every new message you receive appears in your inbox. You need an Instagram Business or Creator account to connect. For the full details, see Connecting Your Instagram Account.
Step 2: Follow up, mostly hands-free
The follow-up board works a little differently now. There is no Done button on every card, because parts of your board are tracked automatically. Here are the three situations you will run into.
1. Someone who never replied
Filter by status: never replied to see people who never answered a message you sent. Click Send Message and DM Tracker takes you to Instagram to send your follow-up. When you come back, DM Tracker asks whether you sent it. You can choose:
Yes, mark as done
Not yet
Disable follow-ups for this contact
DM Tracker asks here because Instagram does not tell us who received an outbound message, so only you know it went out.
2. An ongoing conversation, where they replied before
Filter to contacts who have replied at least once. Click Send Message, send your follow-up on Instagram, then come back to DM Tracker. This time it does not ask you to confirm anything. Because the contact has replied before, DM Tracker detects your message and marks the follow-up as done for you automatically, within a second or two. Nothing to click.
3. A recent conversation, within 24 hours
Sort by newest first to see contacts whose last message was in the past 24 hours. For these, clicking Send Message opens the chat right inside DM Tracker, so you can reply without leaving the app.
One note: if you have only just connected and there is no recent message history yet, you may not be able to send from inside DM Tracker for a given contact. Click the contact's name to open them in Instagram and follow up there. Once your connection has been running for a while and your message history builds up, follow-ups for recent contacts happen fully inside DM Tracker.
